VACCINES RIPPED FROM THE COAST IN BOTCHED ROLLOUT

Hundreds of Coasties have just had their long-awaited Pfizer vaccine appointments cancelled, in yet another example of the Government’s botched rollout.

Many residents received a text message or email over the weekend, saying their booking had been cancelled and their vaccine was being redirected to Year 12 students in Sydney.

This wouldn’t be happening if the Government had secured vaccines earlier, and for all Australians.

“I had many constituents contact me over the weekend, furious that their appointments had been cancelled,” Member for Dobell, Emma McBride said.

“Locals have already been waiting for more than 60 days to get vaccinated, and now they’ll have to wait even longer.

“What’s even more frustrating is some of these people are Year 12 teachers who work in Sydney, and healthcare workers who are at serious risk of the virus.”

The Central Coast has been locked down with the rest of Sydney for the last six weeks because of the outbreak. It doesn’t make sense that our region is considered ‘at risk’ and we’re being told to get vaccinated, but our vaccine supplies are now being taken away.

It once again proves that the Federal Government didn’t secure enough vaccines for Australia, and the Coast is paying the price.

“It’s often said that ‘we’re all in this together.’ but clearly we’re not. We need more vaccines, and we need a mass vaccination hub on the Coast to deliver them.

“I’m calling on the Prime Minister to fix this, now. The Coast deserves its fair share.”
