Toowoon Bay SLSC Lifeguard Tower Named After Allan Cook

On Sunday the 10th of March, people from across the Central Coast and further came together for the official dedication of the lifeguard tower at Toowoon Bay SLSC in honour of Allan Cook.

Known to many as ‘Cookie’, Allan was based at the Toowoon Bay lifeguard tower for 34 years and could always be found at the tower or on the beach when not assisting with a rescue.

Allan was the driving force behind the establishment of lifeguard towers on the Wyong Shire patrolled beaches.

He advocated for the need for towers to give a better view of dangerous coastline locations, as clubhouses were often set back much further from the shoreline.

Allan continually advocated for additional lifeguards to make our beaches safer in his time as beach superintendent.

The Central Coast Council Administrator approved the naming of the tower after Allan Cook in January 2022.

This decision followed letters of support from local MPs Emma McBride, David Harris, David Mehan, from the Toowoon Bay SLSC and Daniel Cook.
