CALLING ALL STUDENTS! HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD IN PARLIAMENT
Students across the Coast will have the chance to have their voice heard in Parliament next month, as part of a speech-writing competition with Raise Our Voice Australia.
The Raise Our Voice campaign is all about helping young people speak up about what’s important to them in the form of a 90-second speech.
The winning speech will then be read out in Parliament during the October sitting period, by your local MP.
Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride signed up to the campaign earlier this year and she says she’s eager to hear from young people right across the electorate.
“This is a fantastic way to get young Coasties talking and encouraging them to have their say about our future,” she said.
“Whether they want to write about the global pandemic, our local environment or things that need fixing in their school, it all matters.
“There are so many bright, young minds on the Coast who are full of ideas for the future and I’m keen to hear what they have to say.”
To get involved, all you need to do is write a 90-second speech (around 200 words) on the topic ‘What do you want Australia to look like in 20 years?’
The campaign is open to anyone living in Australia under the age of 21 and there’s less than a week to go before submissions close, so get writing Coasties.
If you’re keen to have your ideas read out in Parliament, submit your speech here by 21 September: https://raiseourvoiceaustralia.com/youthvoice
