CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY A LOCAL ROAD? NOMINATE IT FOR BLACK SPOT FUNDING NOW!
Each year Australians travel, on average, 12,100 kilometres in a passenger vehicle .
Australian road users know the ins and outs of their local roads like no other, and because of this, the Australian Government is encouraging individuals to dob in a road for funding under the Black Spot Program.
The Australian Government allocates $110 million per year to the Black Spot Program. The Black Spot Program targets road locations where crashes are occurring or are at a risk of occurring.
The Black Spot Program funds safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at locations where a number of serious crashes are known to have occurred, or are at risk of occurring.
Black Spot projects make an important contribution towards reducing serious injuries and deaths on Australia’s roads, and build on previous investments in the state or territory.
Nominations for Black Spot locations are invited from state and territory governments, local governments, community groups and associations as well as individuals. So, if you have a concern about a local road, take the time out to nominate the road for funding through the Black Spot Program.
Nominations are considered annually by Black Spot Consultative Panels in each jurisdiction, who recommend projects for approval to the relevant federal Minister.
