McBride Shows Support for Central Coast Meals On Wheels As Demand Grows
Federal MP for Dobell and Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Emma McBride, visited Central Coast Meals on Wheels to thank volunteers for supporting people across our community.
Demand has rapidly increased for the service with Meals on Wheels volunteers delivering over 200,000 meals across the Coast in the last 12-month period.
Meals on Wheels caters to NDIS participants who have meals included in their packages, and anyone over the age of 65.
The Central Coast has the fastest growing senior population in NSW, making the role of Meals on Wheels vital in supporting older people to live happy, healthy, and independent lives.
There are more than 145 meal options at affordable prices with mini meals starting from $5.95 and main meals starting at $7.50.
Central Coast Meals on Wheels offers more than just delivery. They host a number of weekly community lunches across the region, connecting seniors over lunch with games and activities, and now offer a social support program.
They are currently seeking volunteers for their social support program which assists people with everyday tasks like their weekly grocery shopping. Anyone who would like to volunteer is encouraged to contact the service.
To order meals or het in touch with Central Coast Meals on Wheels, can be contacted at one of their four locations across the Coast: Tuggerah – 02 4357 8402, Charmhaven – 02 4357 8417, Green Point – 02 4363 7111, and Woy Woy – 02 4341 6699.
Quotes attributable to Assistant Minister McBride, Member for Dobell:

“I would encourage anyone who is able to volunteer with Meals on Wheels. It is more than just a delivery service, it offers people connection and helps them retain their independence.
