McBride Hosts Central Coast NDIS Forum
Assistant Health Minister and Member for Dobell, Emma McBride MP, held a NDIS Forum in Blue Haven with Minister for the NDIS, Bill Shorten MP, and Parliamentary Secretary for Disability Inclusion, Liesl Tesch MP, last week.
The Central Coast is home to more than 10,000 NDIS participants, with McBride holding the forum to ensure participants, their families and carers were up to date with the latest information and recent changes.
Attendees heard from Minister Shorten on the significant reforms the Federal Labor Government has made to the NDIS, putting participants at the centre of all decision making and protecting the scheme for generations to come.
Parliamentary Secretary Tesch provided an update on the disability inclusion work of the NSW Labor Government, such as upgrades to train stations like Tuggerah and making community spaces more accessible.
Minister Shorten took questions from attendees seeking updates and assistance, with a commitment to follow up each case.
Representatives from the NDIS and Services Australia were on hand to further assist attendees with enquires.
Since being elected, McBride has directly helped over 800 NDIS participants, and their families, who have contacted the office seeking assistance.
Quotes attributable to Assistant Minister McBride, Member for Dobell:
“The Central Coast is home to many NDIS participants, so it was important participants, their families and carers heard directly from the Minister and were able to ask questions."
“I was delighted that so many people could join the forum, and thank everyone who shared their story."
“Since coming to government, we’ve worked to create a better NDIS for participants, their families and carers.”
