FUNDING FOR THE GLEN FOR WOMEN
The Australian Government is delivering on an election commitment on funding for The Glen for Women on Darkinjung Country on the Central Coast of New South Wales.
The Glen for Women is the first Aboriginal Community Controlled women’s rehabilitation centre in New South Wales.
$27,500 for the Ngaimpe Aboriginal Corporation is for equipment for a new gym at The Glen for Women.
The funding will help the centre cater for the health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
The initiative aligns with the Government’s objectives under Closing the Gap Outcome One: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people live long and healthy lives and Priority Reform Two: Building the Community Controlled Sector.
The funding is part of the Strengthening First Nations Health package announced in 2022-23 Budget.
The 2022-23 Budget funding represents a change in the delivery of First Nations health.
It will grow the Aboriginal Community Controlled sector in regional, rural and remote areas of Australia.
More information on the Strengthening First Nations Health package is available through the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
