DELIVERING FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS
The Albanese Government is delivering on its election commitment for schools in Dobell, with Gorokan Public School and Porters Creek Public School set to share in $50,000 in funding.
As part of the Government’s $270 million School Upgrade Fund, Gorokan Public School will receive $30,000 for outdoor areas and Porters Creek Public School will receive $20,000 for outdoor learning, including a new sandpit.
Federal Member for Dobell, the Hon Emma McBride MP said funding for these commitments has now been confirmed and will be provided in the coming weeks.
“We committed to funding these important school upgrades during the election and now, we’re delivering,” Ms. McBride said.
“This is welcome news for local schools because it means students will have new playgrounds for outdoor learning and play.
“The past few years have been tough for students, teachers and school communities and this funding will help them bounce back from the challenges they’ve faced.”
The Albanese Government’s $270 million School Upgrade Fund is designed to boost school infrastructure and help students bounce back from the pandemic.
Ms. McBride is also encouraging local schools to apply for funding for projects under the open grant round.
“The open grant round is worth $32 million and will be invested in equipment like new laptops and iPads, classroom upgrades and outdoor learning areas,” Ms. McBride said.
“I want local schools in Dobell to get their fair share, so I’m encouraging them to apply.”
Funding will go to schools most in need for small-scale projects worth up to $25,000, that create healthier and safer learning environments and help students get back on track after disruptions caused by the pandemic.
