BOOSTING ABORIGINAL SUPPORT SERVICES ON THE COAST
A Labor Government will boost support services for Indigenous Australians on the Central Coast, so local communities have access to the care and support they need.
If elected, Labor will provide $500,000 for a new roof at Yerin Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Health Services at Mardi.
Yerin Eleanor Duncan has been caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities on the Coast for over 25 years, including providing access to GPs, psychologists, allied health professionals, social and emotional wellbeing, out-of-home care, NDIS, and homelessness support.
Their centre urgently needs an upgrade so they can continue to provide specialised care to local Indigenous groups.
Labor will also fund $25,000 for new gym equipment at The Glen for Women, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre at Wyong.
The Glen provides a safe place for women who are recovering from dependency and offers a 12-week program to help them recover, including fitness training.
While their gym is built and ready to go, they need to fill that space with equipment.
Only Labor is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all Australians and working to close the gap when it comes to accessing Indigenous health services.
