McBRIDE SWORN IN TO FEDERAL PARLIAMENT
Emma McBride MP will officially be sworn in as the Member for Dobell in the Federal Parliament today.
The swearing-in ceremony, which will take place in the House of Representatives chamber from 10.30am, forms part of the formalities of the Opening of the 45th Parliament – which includes a Welcome to Country, Election of the Speaker, Governor-General’s address and introduction of first bills to the new Parliament.
Ms McBride said it was the ultimate privilege to represent the Central Coast on the national stage.
“Including the 39 Members being sworn in today, there have been 1,173 Members of the House of Representatives,” Ms McBride said.
“I am one of only 201 women who have served in the Federal Parliament.”
“It is the highest honour and privilege to represent my community in this place, and today’s ceremony is the formal start to that tenure.”
“I am incredibly grateful for the trust that has been placed in me, and I will work hard every day as the Federal Member for Dobell.”
