Thank-you Central Coast

July 01, 2019

I promise to continue working hard every day to improve the lives of local people.

Sadly, it only took days for the Coalition to break its first election promise.

Throughout the campaign it said tax cuts would be in people’s pockets by July 1, knowing all along that it needed to pass laws in parliament to make that happen.

Labor urged the government to recall the 46th Parliament a week early so the tax cuts, of up to $1080 for low- and middle-income earners, could be passed on time, but to no avail.

The post-election wash up revealed that the Liberals happily short-changed Dobell and the northern areas of the Central Coast while splashing cash around Robertson in the south. Only $5.9 million worth of road upgrades were promised in Dobell compared to $57 million promised in the neighbouring Liberal-held seat of Robertson.

The NSW Liberal budget handed down on June 18 added insult to injury for the Coast. The state Liberals failed to allocate funding for Tuggerah Station lifts despite promising to at the March election.

Other broken promises for the Central Coast in the NSW government budget were no start to construction on the Pacific Highway upgrade through Wyong and no commitment to stopping the Liberal’s sick tax on patients and staff parking at Wyong Hospitals.
