Emma with Prof. Pat McGorry EO of National Centre for Excellence in Youth Mental Health
and Shadow Minister for Health Chris Bowen at headspace in Melbourne.
I was honoured to be appointed Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Shadow Assistant Minister for Carers by Labor Leader Anthony Albanese.
This new role will allow me to champion two issues I am passionate about - the need to improve mental health services and to provide better support for carers.
As a former specialist mental health pharmacist and Deputy Director of Pharmacy for Central Coast Local Health District, and as a carer for my dad, I know how important these issues are.
I promise to be a strong and vocal advocate in Canberra to improve the wellbeing of people with lived experience of mental illness and their families and carers.
I will stand up for the millions of carers throughout Australia so their challenges are recognised and their needs better met.
As a regional MP, I will draw on the experiences of local people to help shape future Labor policy and look forward to working with Shadow Minister for Health, Chris Bowen.
