Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride MP, joined forces with the NSW Shadow Minister for Regional Transport and Member for Wyong, David Harris MP, to hold the rally at Apex Park on Saturday, August 24.
“The NSW Liberal Government has been dragging its feet on the upgrade of the Pacific Highway through Wyong since 2011 and locals are fed up,” Ms McBride said.
“Now the Morrison Liberal Government is sitting by while the nation’s economy stalls when it should fast track projects like the Pacific Highway upgrade through Wyong,” she said.
“The NSW Liberals are planning 41,500 new houses on the Coast by 2036, most of them in the north, but not one cent has been allocated by the Federal Liberal Government to deliver the essential infrastructure needed.
“The Pacific Highway through Wyong is not even listed in the Liberal’s infrastructure investment program. The people of the Central Coast deserve to know why. Why isn’t the Morrison Liberal Government prepared to support our local economy, create jobs and fix this road?”
David Harris said: “The Pacific Highway Wyong needs fixing and it is time for Gladys Berejiklian to get the job done, not next year or the year after that but now.
“Local drivers are stuck in a constant traffic jam through Wyong.
“The road needs to be fixed to improve traffic flow and safety, especially through the Wyong CBD.
“I have been pushing for this upgrade since 2007 and I will continue to do so, until the job gets done. That’s why I invited the community to join our rally sending the Berejiklian Government a message to fix our road,” he said.
