Memory walk success

Over 300 people joined the Grant McBride Memory Walk and Jog at Saltwater Creek Park, Long Jetty, on Sunday, September 22.

The rain cleared, the sun came out and families, workmates and friends gathered, many to commemorate loved ones.

The Memory Walk and Jog once again raised over $20,000 for Dementia Australia so thank you for your efforts.

Dementia, including Alzheimer's Disease, is the second leading cause of death in Australia. It is expected that over one million Australians will be diagnosed with dementia by 2058.

This condition now touches almost everyone. We all know someone who has a loved one living with dementia or who has lost a loved one to dementia.

The 2019 Grant McBride Memory Walk and Jog was also well supported by local workplaces and businesses.

Westfield Tuggerah Manager, Bert Cotte, has become a local champion for this cause, not only supporting the memory walk but introducing initiatives like the Westfield Quiet Hour.

Other workplaces, including Catholic Healthcare, Aurrum Aged Care Norah Head, Southern Cross Care and Vitality Dental also registered teams for this year’s event.

Together we can make a difference. See you next year.
