Members of the Central Coast Dementia Alliance
Congratulations to the Central Coast Dementia Alliance (CCDA) on the first Central Coast Dementia Clinical Forum held at The Entertainment Grounds Gosford and attracting 140 delegates.
Case managers, dieticians, registered nurses, occupational therapists, educators, care managers and geriatricians gathered to share their experience and help raise awareness.
CCDA has gone from strength to strength, gaining recognition from Dementia Australia for their work towards a dementia-friendly Central Coast. To show your support become a Dementia Friend by clicking here.
Bert Cotte and his team at Westfield Tuggerah also deserve recognition for their Sensory Friendly Initiative, the Quiet Hour on Tuesday’s from 9.30am to 10.30am.
During Quiet Hour, Westfield Tuggerah dims its lighting, adjusts its music and limits some day to day activities to limit sensory over-stimulation. Many retailers participate by dimming their lights, lowering their music and creating special offers just for Quiet Hour.
Alongside Quiet Hour, with thanks to Ability Links, Westfield Tuggerah now offers sensory headphone kits for hire. The kits can also be hired from Event Cinemas and Coles or from the Westfield concierge.
