LABOR’S VISION FOR HEALTH, EDUCATION, CLIMATE CHANGE AND WAGES

April 05, 2019

The vision for Australia’s future in Labor’s 2019 Budget Reply will benefit the Coast.

“It will mean an additional $43.7 million funding for our schools,” said Member for Dobell, Emma McBride.

“We will lift the cap on NDIA staff numbers to get the support to people with disability when they need it,” Ms McBride said.

“This will be a huge relief to the hundreds of people on the Coast struggling with lengthy delays.

“We will take real action on climate change and renewable energy to drive down power costs,” she said.

“The cost of living is making it hard for many families to make ends meet. Under Labor workers earning under $40,000 will also get a tax cut and penalty rates will be restored.”

As a pharmacist, Ms McBride said she would be proud to be part of a Labor Government that not only restored proper funding to hospitals but had a real vision for the future of Medicare.

“Labor’s plans for Medicare would see our health system restored to its position as a world leader,” she said. Labor will introduce a new bulk-billed Medicare item to deliver more free cancer consultations as part of the biggest cancer care package in Australian history.

“Reversing the fall in apprentices and rebuilding TAFE will boost our community. Our community has seen a 33% drop in apprentices and trainees between 2013 and 2016 under the Liberals.”
